Well, I will have to say time is flying by but at the same time it feels like a long time when I look back on the beginning! And 40 weeks = 10 months not 9. Why do they say 9 months? Does anyone know?
Overall, I will have to say pregnancy so far hasn't been too bad. The puking part sucked big time but since then it has been pretty good. Peeing all the time is quite the annoyance but feeling my baby become more and more active cancels that out! I know some people feel knowing the gender of their baby helps them bond better but I haven't found that to be a problem at all. I feel so connected to my little one. And Russ has been reading to our baby every night, currently we are reading The Jesus Story Book Bible and To Kill a Mockingbird, quite the duo I know. I think PB really enjoys hearing about Scout's adventures and loves hearing names like Atticus Finch, Calpurnia, and Boo Radley.
This weekend we are going to our childbirth class which will be fun. We are attending with lots of people we know which will be quite entertaining I am sure. It's interesting to finally start thinking about my own birth! Seems like I have had so much time as a doula to plan for this and the time has finally come. Praying God gives me what I need for whatever happens, knowing He will as He always does.
I will stop taking doula clients in June which will give me some time to finish getting ready and just time to rest and relax. I plan on spending lots of time by the pool! I may feel uncomfortable but I will be tan!
I hope to have some maternity photos to post but we shall see. I hate getting my picture taken!
So, I am curious. What was important to you all in your third trimester? Any tips or advice you can give me about things you wish you would have done or were glad you did?
Your new life doula,
Audrey

REST and sleep when you feel like it. Your bod needs to get prepped for labor and motherhood. Shawna was good about napping a lot that last week of pregnancy... she then had a baby at 4am. Luckily she had rested a lot. Also, enjoy your husband and pray together - for a courtship-like marriage, where you still have plenty of date nights! Congrats, I am right behind you!
How about some prenatal yoga? I loved it! I just wasn't as good at making every class once I went from one kiddo to two. Definitely, going out on dates. Keep exercising too. Maternity photo shoot. Book your newborn shoot. You can start writing in your baby book if you bought that.
Since you are having a home birth...stock the frig, food/snack/juice prep for the birth. You could even make a couple of meals & breakfast things to freeze so you can just pull them out in a pinch once that baby is here!
Or do nothing and just read and pray and soak up the beautiful anticipation of meeting your baby!!!!
Going for walks. Spending time with Diego. Reading in the park. Thinking about who my baby was and loving talking to her.
Take care and treasure this wonderful time.
Lisa
